The Jan. 6 select committee has requested House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthys testimony about his interactions with Donald Trump as a mob swarmed the Capitol.

The request follows months of speculation about when the panel would seek the California Republican’s cooperation with their probe.

The committee has raised questions about McCarthys conversation with Trump on Jan. 6, which was fleshed out during the then-president’s impeachment trial last February. According to Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.), McCarthy described the call as tense and that Trump initially suggested it wasnt his supporters storming the Capitol.
